What is Recruitment?

Recruitment is the formal process of identifying, attracting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding employees to an organization. According to the size and the requirement of the organization, recruitment can be outsourced or can assigned to the recruitment manager under the Human resources department.

Types of recruitment

Recruitment can be done through various ways, such as Paper or mass media advertisement, social media sites, Job posting websites, Job banks, Educational institutes, Recruitment agencies, Recommendations, head hunting, etc. Listed below are a few methods used all over the world.

Internal Recruitments

Internal Recruitment is recruiting existing staff to new job roles/posts or responsibilities. This method is cost-effective for the company as well as easier than other methods. This can be done in a few different ways such as

  • Through Promotions
  • Transferring staff among departments/Subsidiaries
  • Re-employment of Ex-employees

Hence the employees are familiar with the organization's practices and procedures, the aforementioned methods are easy to execute, and deployment can be done fast.  

Retained Recruiting & Contingency Recruiting

Retained recruiting is when an organization hires a recruiting firm, the firm is paid a retainer fee upfront and is responsible for finding qualified and suitable candidates to fill the positions until the position or contract agreement expires.

The difference from contingency recruiting is that the recruiting firm is only paid when a candidate is successfully placed in the position.

Staffing Recruiting

Staffing recruiters are a professional organization that meets employees who are looking for jobs and employers are having vacancies.

Outplacement Recruiting

This is an employer-sponsored benefit that helps terminated or laid-off staff to find a suitable job. Outplacement services can provide Job search coaching, resume writing assistance, and interview preparations.

The goal of outplacement services is to help displaced employees find new employment as quickly as possible, while also providing emotional support during a difficult time. Outplacement can also help employers manage their reputation and maintain positive relationships with former employees.

Reverse Recruiting

Reverse recruiting is Employees encouraging to approach the employer to seek a better opportunity to fit their skills. This can be an effective strategy for employees to move fast and achieve their goals in the crowded unemployment community. 

Challenges of Recruitment

Recruitment is a crucial and challenging task for an organization. The right people will drive the company to its goals and vision but there can be a lot of passengers that will not help the organization's growth and sustainability.


Attracting or finding the right candidate

There can be a number of candidates with similar qualifications and working experience. Finding the best candidate with the necessary skills and mindset is a challenging task for an organization.

Competition in the market

Engaging with qualified candidates is also a challenging task. A candidate who is highly skilled is more valuable and there can be competition between employers to recruit the same candidate. 

Time constraint

Recruiting can be a time-consuming process, and organizations often have tight deadlines to fill open positions. This can be a challenge when there is a shortage of suitable candidates or when the hiring team is stretched thin.

Employers Brand

A good employer brand name will lead attract suitable candidates to the organization. As competition is everywhere, an organization with a good employment benefits structure and reputed history of human resource management can attract suitable candidates quickly.

Cost

As the recruitment process takes more cost-consuming steps, such as paying recruitment firms, holding interviews, advertising, and tracking, better to have the process soon and fast. But rushing the recruitment process is not advisable hence there is a possibility to wrong recruitments.

Retention

Employee retention will reduce the tension of the recruitment, hence once a candidate recruits there is a possibility to leave soon after, especially company has to take necessary action and should have a plan to retain and treat newly recruited candidates.

Overall, recruitment is a complex process that requires careful planning and execution to ensure that organizations attract and retain the best talent.
